Building on 20+ years of experience in business management, Cheryle Peikert decided to open her own consulting business. In order to promote her company, she hired J Square Design to create an identity package and a web site, which would convey her company's message in a professional manner.
Rather than overload web site with masses of information, it was decided to keep the site simple with regard to content, and focus on promoting usability. The primary information Ms. Peikert wanted to convey included what services her business is prepared to provide, and a brief explanation of her companies history as a means of credentialing her expertise.
C. Peikert and Associates is a small company, so one of the other requirements for the web site was to provide a means for them to securely make updates and changes to the site, without having to carry a maintainence contract. This was achieved by storing all the site content in a MySQL database and using dynamic server-side pages to insert the data. Changes to the site's content can be made through a customized web interface, and by using a customized PHP templating system, there's no fear of breaking the site when making changes to the content
In addition to the client-prescribed requirements, the site is also coded using strict XHTML markup and CSS-P styling, which makes it easy to change the look and feel of the site should the client desire a redesign at a later date, without the need to rebuild any of the content pages. Also, by using CSS styling, the site is able to change it's presentation depending on the viewing media, so it can appear one way on your computer, another when printed to paper, and yet another way when viewed on a web-enabled cell phone. By using industry standard guidelines, this site is well prepared for the future of the Internet, whatever that may be.
