Client: Psoom, Inc.
Project: CDAM (Contractually-Driven Asset Management)
Launched: Prototype in July 2001
The goal of Psoom, Inc. was to create software to help companies use the data they had gathered in a way that would ensure compliance with the contractual stipulations set when the information was gathered. When users register with a company web site, or fill out a registration card from a product, the company stores that users personal information is a huge repository database, so they can use it to track habits, send junkmail and spam, as well as a myriad of other things.
The problem is that the rules regarding that information varies, but it all gets lumped together so no one knows which info can be used for what purpose. Then, along comes contractually-driven asset management (CDAM) software.
While working for Psoom, I created the web interface for the CDAM software
prototype. Some of the major challenges I addressed in the design included:
- User's with a wide range of experience (lawyers to sysAdmins)
- Need for users to quickly and accurately sift through large amounts of data
- Must work in legacy browsers such as Netscape 4.x
- Must fit within well defined workflow processes
The software only made it to the prototype phase because ultimately the company imploded from mis-management and internal power struggles, which is sad because the product even today holds promise.
